At age 14, Jane’s mother began dating a man who made Jane feel uncomfortable. He soon began to sexually abuse Jane. When Jane tried to tell her mother, she defended her boyfriend and called Jane names, blaming the abuse on her. With her home unsafe, Jane ran away.
Within 48 hours, Jane was approached by a trafficker who promised her a place to live, security, and comfort – in exchange for money she made for selling her body.
Jane was recovered in West Dallas in a child sex trafficking bust and brought to DCAC, where our High Risk Youth team coordinated her care and provided Jane with the services she needs to recover from the trauma of abuse and trafficking.
It’s estimated that minor and youth sex trafficking costs the state of Texas approximately $6.6 billion dollars each year.
Jane is one of the over 27,000 children reported as abused in Dallas County last year. DCAC stands by Jane – fighting for her and restoring hope.
But we can’t do this work alone; we need your help.
DCAC’s expert services are offered to each victim for as long as they are needed – at ZERO cost.
