As April unfolds, so too does National Child Abuse Prevention Month – a poignant reminder of the ongoing battle to protect our most vulnerable. It is a month that holds profound significance as we amplify our efforts to shine a light on the pervasive issue of child abuse. It’s a time to raise awareness, foster understanding, and unite communities in safeguarding our most precious resource – our children.
As I stand on the brink of celebrating 30 years of dedicated service in this critical field, every step of this journey has been a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of collective action by those who have dedicated their lives to such a worthy cause. It’s been on the front lines, hearing the voices of survivors, and witnessing the tireless efforts of law enforcement, child protection investigators, pediatric medical providers, prosecutors, forensic interviewers, advocates, and clinicians that I’ve learned the true essence of what it means to stand up for those in need.
At Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC), we’re not just marking this month; we’re laying the groundwork for a brighter tomorrow. As we embark on a new strategic plan titled “Building Today for a Better Tomorrow,” I’m filled with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism. This vision encapsulates not just a commitment to the present but a steadfast dedication to laying the groundwork for a brighter and more promising future for generations to come. It’s a roadmap to bolster our impact, expand our reach, and fortify our commitment to protecting children and supporting survivors.
“Building Today for a Better Tomorrow” is more than just a slogan – it’s a call to action. It’s an invitation to join us in this noble cause, to stand together in solidarity, and to work tirelessly towards a world where every child is safe, protected, and empowered to fulfill their potential.
As we observe National Child Abuse Prevention Month, let us not only reflect on the challenges we face but also on the boundless possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we can build a better tomorrow – one where every child knows they are loved, valued, and worthy of a bright and hopeful future.
Join us as we turn vision into action, one step at a time, one life at a time. Together, we can make a difference – today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
With gratitude and determination,
