Volunteer at DCAC
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center has flexible and meaningful opportunities for those interested in volunteering their time and unique talents toward restoring hope to children who have been abused.
A Commitment to Safety
Due to the sensitive nature of our work and our commitment to providing a safe environment for children and families, all volunteers at DCAC must be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in a local school district. Volunteers are also required to complete a thorough application and background screening process before beginning their service.
Get Started as a DCAC Volunteer
Application and Screening
Begin by completing the volunteer application, which includes confidential information about any felony or misdemeanor convictions. Consent is also required for Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry, DPS Criminal History, and sex offender registry checks. All applicants must attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation and Tour.
Background Checks
All volunteers must complete and clear background checks for the Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry, DPS Criminal History, and the national sex offender registry before volunteering begins.
Volunteer Service
Once approved, volunteers can serve DCAC in a variety of roles, including engaging with children in the Activity Center, supporting special events and donation drives, providing administrative help, or participating in enrichment activities and client celebrations—all with a focus on creating a safe and welcoming space for children and families.
