How We Support Children & Families
An Outcry or Report of Abuse
DCAC’s Multi-Disciplinary Coordination Team reads every report of child abuse made in Dallas County to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to ensure no child falls through the cracks.
MDT Case Coordination
DCAC coordinates law enforcement, child protective services, and other partners to facilitate a comprehensive approach that results in more successful investigations and prosecutions and provides a less traumatic experience for child victims and their families.
Forensic Services
A DCAC forensic interviewer conducts a developmentally appropriate conversation with the child in a safe, neutral location. Law enforcement and Child Protective Services observe the interview, which is recorded, and submitted to the District Attorney’s office as evidence.
Advocacy Services
DCAC Family Advocates guide families through their case, explain the legal process, connect them to community resources, and offer ongoing emotional support. Their steady presence helps families manage stress and ensures no one has to navigate the journey alone.
Clinical Services & Graduation
Children and their non-offending family members receive evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy from DCAC’s Clinical Services team. Therapy is tailored to each family’s needs and is available at no cost When a child completes therapy services, DCAC staff and partners host a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievement.
Court & Long-Term Case Management
If a case goes to court, DCAC staff prepare families and children for the experience, act as expert witnesses, and offer emotional and practical support throughout the legal proceedings. After a case closes, families can reach out to DCAC for additional services at any time, ensuring safety and long-term recovery.
