A Personal Vision for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a sobering reminder of our collective responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us. This annual observance calls us to confront the realities of child abuse and highlights the profound impact we can achieve when we unite our voices and efforts.
In Dallas County, a report of child abuse is made every 19 minutes. Each of these reports represents one of the darkest moments in a child’s life—moments filled with fear, isolation, and pain. At the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC), we are committed to rewriting that narrative, one child at a time.
Every day, we witness extraordinary transformations. A child who once felt abandoned finds safety within our walls and begins to rediscover their sense of self. They learn they are not alone, and with each step forward, their future becomes brighter and more hopeful. These moments require all of us—working together—to nurture that transformation.
Our team at DCAC works tirelessly to review every report and support every child who needs us. Alongside law enforcement, child protective services, medical professionals, and the District Attorney’s office, we stand firm in our commitment to justice and healing. And none of this would be possible without individuals like you—our community of supporters.
This National Child Abuse Prevention Month, I invite you to stand with us and every child who walks through our doors. Each of us has a role in creating a future where every child is safe, valued, and empowered. Your support, whether through donations or volunteering, has a tangible impact on our mission.
Together, we can replace fear with hope, isolation with connection, and silence with voices that tell stories of resilience and recovery. Join us in transforming lives.
With heartfelt gratitude and unwavering hope,
