John is a high school freshman who just transferred into his school mid-year. With a rough home life, John sought out community and family through teachers and friends. One teacher he especially confided in, and that teacher groomed him to not resist abuse.
Confused, John told a friend about the relationship with a teacher. His friend, knowing this wasn’t appropriate, reported it to the school.
John was brought to DCAC, where he was interviewed and he and his family received healing services. Today, after testifying in his teacher’s case, John is a college student studying to be a social worker to help other kids in need.
John is one of the over 27,000 children reported as abused in Dallas County last year. DCAC stands by John – fighting for him and restoring hope.
But we can’t do this work alone; we need your help.
