The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is a nonprofit public / private collaboration that provides a coordinated, multi-agency approach to the investigation, intervention, and treatment of child sexual and physical abuse. Located in a restored, child-friendly Victorian house, DCAC provides a non-threatening, secure, child-friendly environment for the children and families we serve.

In addition to the DCAC team of skilled professionals, our multidisciplinary team is comprised of:

  • Municipal law enforcement agencies in Dallas County
  • Texas Department of Family Protective Services, Child Protective Services (CPS)
  • Dallas County District Attorney’s Office
  • Children’s Medical Center of Dallas
  • Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

Case criteria for the DCAC’s multidisciplinary team include the most severe and complex cases of sexual and physical abuse of children 14 years of age and younger, residing in Dallas County. DCAC provides the leadership, the facility, funding, volunteers and education to implement the multidisciplinary team approach. Direct forensic interviewing and counseling services are provided by our highly-trained staff.

DCAC coordinates local recognizing and reporting child abuse workshops for local professionals and co-produces, with the Dallas Police Department, the annual international Crimes Against Children Conference which provides professional education to frontline professionals tp engage in the investigation, prosecution, and intervention of child abuse cases. We are also available to provide customized programs of interest to civic groups, PTA organizations, human service organizations, and others interested in learning more about child abuse issues. For more information, please contact Ann Ferguson at 214.818.2600.

Funding for the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is provided by individual, foundation, and corporate contributions, special event revenue, limited third party payers and government grants.
